I’m a 17 year old white guy living in middle class America. I’ve never exactly been a supporter of feminism because that kind of thing has never really affected me personally. I don’t notice it and I don’t care about it. But in nine minutes this video has made what is truly a serious problem extremely apparent. Those “why I need feminism” posts or those slut-shaming or rape culture campaigns never convince me of anything. But this video actually did I think.

Just in case any dudebros are unclear on what this means: it means that your buddy who totally just had some bitch trying to ruin his life by accusing him of rape…almost certainly actually did rape her.

But the problem with this sort of thinking is that if a friend of yours is trying to tell you “some bitch” is trying to accuse him of rape, then you should at least listen to him.

Yeah there’s a chance that he actually did and is trying to cover stuff up, but that doesn’t mean to just blow him off because of a small statistic. In reality, it’s a 50/50 chance: either he did or he didn’t.

I mean wow I didn’t know that I had to automatically had to call my friend something “some bitch” is trying to accuse him of. Because dang man we totally have to ditch our best friends over asshole logic because of a probably-serious predicament he’s in. Perfect logic 10/10 would read again.

Just because something is an either/or matter doesn’t mean it’s a 50/50 chance. Are you on fire? You obviously are or aren’t. Is that a 50% chance? No. The chance that you’re on fire right now is vanishingly small.

“Asshole logic” is the perfect description for the thought process you’re displaying here. Or, no wait, I’ve got a better one: rapist logic.
